What's a BEDSORE!?
Bedsores, or pressure ulcers, are skin and tissue damage caused by sustained pressure, common among bedridden patients. They usually develop on bony areas like ankles, hips, elbows, and shoulders, often due to reduced blood flow, dry skin, or sweat accumulation. Hospitals use a “patient turning” protocol—shifting patients every two hours—to reduce risk. Bedsores add pain for patients and workload for caregivers.

SCAMPER
Substitute
Consider whether some of what already exists can be replaced by something else.
Sand like materials
High density foam + Memory foam
Inflatable with air
Hydro gel
Recycled cotton cloths as filling material
SCAMPER
Combine
Consider the possibility of joining several elements into one. This could be two products, two services or various assets.
App integration for tutorials and and support
Set of wedges can be combined in the shape of a mattress
SCAMPER
Adapt
The point is to draw inspiration from what already exists and adapt it to your own solution.
Smart sensors integration for a more premium product
Variable temperature integration
SCAMPER
Modify
Consider whether you can modify a feature or part of the product or idea. Try to broaden your thinking.
Easier packaging with efficient stacking and straps inbuilt for enhanced portability
Rounded edges for baby proofing
An orange with each slice becoming a wedge specialized for each part of the body
SCAMPER
Put to another use
The goal is to find another application for the product or concept in case changes are made to it. For example, a luggage case can be used as a coffee table in an airport to eat a lunch.
As a pillow
Protection in babies cradle
As toys
SCAMPER
Eliminate
Think of all the elements that could be removed to simplify the service, product or interface.
Form simplification
Optimize the size to assist portability, packaging and cost
SCAMPER
Reverse
Try to reverse the product, situation or idea in order to come up with others ideas that stand out from the ordinary (or also reorganise or rearrange). The goal is to go beyond the expected solutions.
